Van Gogh painted three versions of his bedroom at the Yellow House in Arles. This version, the third and most personal, was created while he was a patient at the Saint-Paul-de-Mausole asylum. The intense colours, the distorted perspective, and the sense of ordered calm in an otherwise turbulent life make it one of his most moving works.
