Edgar Degas

Edgar Degas was one of the founders of French Impressionism, though he preferred to be called a Realist. Famous for his depictions of dancers, bathers, and café scenes, he worked in oil, pastel, and sculpture, bringing an experimental approach to composition and viewpoint that anticipated modern photography.
