Mary Cassatt

Mary Cassatt was the only American artist to exhibit with the French Impressionists. Based in Paris, she became a close associate of Degas and was renowned for her intimate depictions of women and children in modern domestic settings. She also played a crucial role introducing Impressionism to American collectors.
